Administrativhäftling Khader Adnan am 53. Tag seines Hungerstreiks [09.02.2012]
Khader Adnan wurde am 17. Dezember verhaftet. Er wurde von Anfang an misshandelt und weiß bis zum heutigen Tag nicht, was ihm vorgeworfen wird.
Mitterweile befindet er sich seit über 50 Tagen im
Hungerstreik und riskiert damit ein Leben.
In solidarity with Khader Ednan.
The Administrative detainee, Khader Ednan, has been on a hunger strike for 53 days. He is protesting the circumstances of his arrest, his mistreatment by the interrogators, and the fact that he still does not know the reason for his arrest. Khader is hospitalized in the city of Zafad where he is handcuffed and shackled to a hospital bed under constant guard. According to the Israeli Medical Association the potential physiological changes after 45 to 75 days of complete hunger strike include "death as a result of cardio-vascular collapse and/or severe arrhythmia". Do not let Khader's plea go unheard!!)
This is a call for action!
The administrative detainee Khader Ednan, hospitalized in the “Ziv” Hospital in Zafad, is on the 53rd day of the hunger strike he started on the day following his arrest. Ednan still does not know why he was arrested or the nature of the charges laid against him. An administrative arrest is an arbitrary arrest performed on the basis of an administrative order by a military officer alone, without a judicial ruling, without indictment, and without a trial. Israel employs administrative detention in a manner that stands in grave breach of the international law by applying it to a vast number of people and under the heavy veil of secrecy that prevents the detainees from establishing a proper defense in court. According to the Israeli Prison Service there are over 300 administrative detainees in Israel.
Khader Ednan is currently held at the “Rivka Ziv” hospital in Zafad, shackled to his bed by hands and feet. Although Khader refuses to be examined by the personnel of the hospital, the Israeli Prison Service would not allow doctors from Physicians for Human Rights to access and examine the detainee.
Edanan's lawyer had reported to the media on the significantly deteriorating state of Khader Ednan's, who is feeble and vomiting, after meeting him yesterday in the hospital. His wife, Randa, who visited him today, for the first time since his imprisonment reports that he has lost more than third of his body-weight, he is losing his hair, and his condition is constantly detriorating. According to the Israeli Medical Association the potential physiological changes after 45 to 75 days of complete hunger strike include "death as a result of cardio-vascular collapse and/or severe arrhythmia". Despite all that, Khader Ednan was transferred between five hospitals and detention facilities.
Additional people have recently joined Khader Ednan's hunger strike, among them Khader's father, ten Palestinian detainees and Gazan students.
Khader Ednan has been on a 53 day long hunger strike against the practice of administrative detentions.
He might die at any moment.
