The 'Freedom Theatre' presents 'Waiting for Godot' [25.09.2011]

Jenin's Freedom Theatre continues to resist and shows Waiting for Godot. On 10 September, the students of slain activist and Freedom Theatre co-founder Juliano Mer Khamis, under the direction of Udi Alon, first presented the play by Samuel Beckett: A mature and serious play, in which monologues and inner thinking take the place of action.

It was a difficult project, born from the sorrow following the murder of Mer-Khamis and characterised by repeated attacks on the Theatre and its staff by the Israeli army.

Director Udi Alon tells the Alternative Information Center the meaning of Waiting for Godot, the birth of the project and his expectations for the future.
